Fatherhood Facts

Black dads are more involved with their children than any other group of men in the country. This is a stat that flies in the face of the incorrect and disparaging narratives that shroud Black fatherhood. But we didn't make it up. The truth was uncovered over a decade ago by the United States CDC. And data tells us that fatherhood involvement is one of the strongest indicators of how well children and their birthing parents fare. Recently, Detroit Marriage Movement joined forces with Southeast Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Collective (SEMPQIC) to improve systems and address disparities in health, education, and economics on behalf of children by centering fathers.
