Mission
The mission of Black Marriage Movement is to promote the generational prosperity of Black families.
Vision
Our vison is majority Black cities that are clean, safe, healthy, and prosperous; that attract talented Black families and investors from across the nation; that serve as global models for racial, economic, and other forms of social justice; and where healthy relationships and financial decisions of adults are driven by aspirations of and for future generations. We believe Detroit can achieve:
1. Zero preventable infant deaths
2. 100% high school graduation rates and
3. $150 million in generational wealth
Values
Justice The health and wealth disparities experienced by Black Americans are the effect of systemic exclusion and exploitation over time. It must be addressed through equitable and reparative means.
Self Determination While pursuing justice, Black Americans must widely adopt the best practices of Black history and culture to radically improve success odds of Black children.
Future Focus To achieve generational prosperity, social, economic, and cultural decisions of current generations must be informed by aspirations and possibilities for future generations.
