Community-Based Participatory Action Research
Black Marriage Movement meshes local wisdom and lived experience with university resources and methodology to introduce scalable solutions to pressing problems identified by Black families and community. Our work with Wayne State University's School of Social Work and the Community-based Research on Equity, Activism, & Transformative Education (CREATE) Center in University of Michigan's School of Education advocates for education justice while producing antiracist Reseach-Practice Partnerships (RPPs). Our collaboration with the Detroit Urban Research Center (URC) and University of Michigan School of Public Health improves workforce, mental health, and economic outcomes for Black youth in workforce programs.
Researchers are invited to request RPPs with our experienced community-based Principal investigators (PIs) and to pursue funding to solve community challenges.
In the meanwhile, check out this piece on facilitating racial justice and healing through Research Practice Partnerships.
